What in the world would warrant the HOBBIT to have a trilogy when LOTR only got a trilogy? Not that I would ever complain of detailed world-building film of Middle-earth…but….I’m crossing my fingers it’s going to be more Tolkien rather than Tolkien fanfic.
What I’ve been told is that it’s a trilogy because they’re pulling in a whole lot of Silmarillion material that would otherwise never see the silver screen because… yeah, you really just can’t make a movie out of the Silmarillion.
